This presentation provides a background on the Philippine Performance Archive Project, particularly the building of local vocabularies related to cultural performances in the context of the Philippines. It suggests ways to extract meaning, utilize some concepts of semantic frames and event frames in describing/defining vocabulary items pertaining to Philippine cultural performances, which reflect the local knowledge of the community where these cultural performances are practiced.
