My paper titled "Porohanon as an island language" won the E. Arsenio Manuel Best Student Paper Award in the 44th Ugnayang Pang-Aghamtao, Inc. (UGAT) Conference held in Marinduque State College from 26-28 October, 2022. The award is named after Esperidion Arsenio Manuel, a professor emeritus of anthropology at the University of the Philippines. Dr. Manuel studied and trained in antrhopology at the University of the Philippines and University of Chicago. He is dubbed as the "Dean of Filipino Anthropology" and "Father of Philippine Folklore" due to his rigorous and pioneering scholarly works. His publications include "Manuvu Social Organization", "Harvest of Songs: Constituting the Manuvu Epic Cycle" and "Notes on Philippine Folklore", to name a few. Some of the awards bestowed to Dr. Manuel include: UP Service Award (1967), Gawad CCP para sa Sining (1989), National Social Scientist of the Year Award (1991) from PSSC, and Alab ng Haraya (2001) from the NCCA. Dr. Manuel passed away in 2003 (UGAT, 2022, p. 173).
