UP-IESM's CARbON Lab Detects Persistent CO2 Sources in Rizal Province

A persistent CO2 source from Rizal province was detected from a synergy of measurements and modelling at UP-IESM's CARbON Lab.  Rizal province is known for its cement manufacturing (e.g. Rizal Cement products) due to large deposits of limestone in the area.  Cement production produces large amount of CO2 emissions due to the calcination process of limestone.

Due to the long-lived and well-mixed nature of atmospheric carbon dioxide, it can stay in the air for long periods of time and it can be transported for long distances.

Tropical Depression brings Flooding Rains and High Winds Threat For Luzon, Taiwan and Southern Japan by Robert Speta

A developing TD (invest 93w) has caused yet another day of wet weather in the Philippines and southern Taiwan. This persistent rainfall due to an influx of moist air from the South China sea has set the stage flooding, landslides and overall hazardous conditions along Luzons western Sea Boards.
