About

My research interests primarily lie in the study of the morphosyntactic structure of Tagalog, and the documentation and description of Philippine indigenous languages. I also teach Chinese Mandarin at the UP Department of Linguistics. Doing so has also made me interested in investigating second/foreign language acquisition--particularly how one's heritage language/s influence/s the learning of a second language, as well as how language policies, teaching strategies, and learner attitudes influence language acquisition.

I am currently the local coordinator of a project commissioned by the Leipzig University and the University of Cologne, which aims to create a Universal Dependencies treebank for Tagalog. I am also working with some Buhid Mangyan teachers on developing a trilingual dictionary of their language.
