Daniel "Dansoy" Coquilla is a native of Panabo City, Davao del Norte. He received his formal training from the UP College of Fine Arts, where he was also awarded UP Gawad Chanselor para sa Sining Biswal in 1998. He received a number of awards including Juror’s Choice in the 1997 Philip Morris Philippine and ASEAN Art Awards, Grand Prize and Juror’s Choice winner in AAP Competitions, finalist in the Metrobank and Shell National Painting Competitions, and Philippine Finalist to the Windsor & Newton World-Wide Millenium Painting Competition. In 2006, he was one of the Thirteen Artists Awardee by the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Dansoy is currently an employee and a resident of UP Diliman.
Dansoy's latest work on the theme of jeepney was held at the U.P. Vargas Museum in 2012.
