The University of Philippines Diliman and Keio University jointly offered the fieldwork program from 30 November – 9 December 2014. The fieldwork in the Philippines was participated by undergraduate and graduate students from leading universities in Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Japan. This fieldwork aims to expose the participants to the issues of the environment particularly on the degradation of surface water quality and challenges in the solid waste management for them to be an integral part of the solution as future leaders. The participants visited the Payatas dumpsite and a materials recovery facility in Quezon City, conducted water quality monitoring in Bued River and visited small-scale mining industries in Itogon, Benguet.
