TOYM Award for Sociology conferred to Nicole Curato

Nicole Curato, Sociology Department Alumna and faculty member (2012-2013, 2008-2009), received the 2013 Ten Most Outstanding Young Men TOYM Award for Sociology.

The award is organized by the Philippine Jaycees and the Gerry Roxas Foundation to recognize the country’s young men and women between ages eighteen to forty for their outstanding achievements that benefit the community and the nation significantly.

Beyond her scholarly research publication Nicole Curato, one of Rappler’s Thought Leaders, is often featured in media engaging the public sociological analysis and commentary on Philippine politics and democratic discourse.

She is currently a research fellow at the Center for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance at the Australian National University
