Nico Valdez graduated Magna Cum Laude in BS Electronics and Communications Engineering in UP Diliman in 2011. He was a student affiliate of the UP EEEI Digitals Signal Processing Laboratory where he specialized in Audio Engineering. For his undergraduate thesis, he collaborated with the UP Center for Ethnomusicology to make a Gong Music Classifier. In 2013, he was part of a team that created a Kulintang VST prototype which was displayed at the Jose Maceda Exhibit at the Vargas Museum.

In 2011-2012, he worked as a project staff in the DSP laboratory's ISIP projects and as a Sound Designer and Composer for various video game projects of the UP EEEI CNL Laboratory. He stopped working in 2012 to take the board exam. From 2013 to 2014, he returned to work in CNL as a Sound Designer, Composer, Game Designer and Programmer for a video game project exploring the usage of 3D gestures on 2D screens. He is currently working as a Traditional Game Designer and freelance Mixing Engineer.
